Our Advisory Board

Wellville is a 10-year national nonprofit project to achieve equitable wellbeing. We support the efforts of five US communities (the “W5”) as they improve their health and wellbeing, inspire other communities to do the same, and promote change in how our nation invests in its people, institutions and systems to achieve equitable wellbeing for all Americans for generations to come.

Michael Critelli

Retired | Former Chairman/CEO Pitney Bowes

Michael Critelli served as chairman and CEO of Pitney Bowes from 1996 to 2007. Prior to joining Pitney Bowes as a Counsel in 1979, he was an associate at two Chicago law firms. At Pitney Bowes, he became the Company’s General Counsel in 1988 and added responsibility for its human resources functions in 1990, functions he jointly led until 1993. As chief HR officer, he created and sustained an employer-sponsored healthcare program, and was featured by Professor Michael Porter in Redefining Healthcare, co-authored with Professor Elizabeth Teisberg, and a 2009 Harvard Business School study. Mike presented the program at the World Economic Forum in 2007 and 2008.

Chief Medical Officer Accolade

Ivor Horn, MD, MPH, is Accolade’s Chief Medical Officer and brings decades of experience to her role, which focuses on healthcare consumer engagement and blending human touch and innovative technology to help people better navigate their healthcare benefits. A board-certified pediatrician, she was previously the Medical Director of the Center for Diversity and Health Equity at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In addition to practicing as a community-based primary care pediatrician, Ivor has conducted NIH-funded research on healthcare communications and health disparities, with an emphasis on how health information technology can be used to improve outcomes. Ivor is a member of the Academic Pediatric Association, having served in leadership positions regionally as well as nationally. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was often featured as a medical expert on “Today” and “Good Morning America.” She also chairs Accolade’s Medical Advisory Board.

Senior Vice President, Healthy Communities The California Endowment

Anthony B. Iton, M.D., J.D., MPH, joined The California Endowment in October 2009 as Senior Vice President of Healthy Communities. Prior to his appointment at The Endowment, Tony served since 2003 as both the director and county health officer for the Alameda County Public Health Department. In that role, he oversaw the creation of an innovative public health practice designed to eliminate health disparities by tackling the root causes of poor health that limit quality of life and lifespan in many of California’s low-income communities. Previously, Tony served for three years as director of Health and Human Services and School Medical Advisor for the City of Stamford, Connecticut. He has also served as a physician for Stamford Hospital’s HIV Clinic and as a primary care physician for the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Tony has been published in numerous public health and medical publications and is a regular public health lecturer and keynote speaker. He earned his B.S. in Neurophysiology, with honors, from McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec, his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law, and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Brad Perkins is a physician, scientist and entrepreneur. He is currently co-founder & CEO of Sapiens Data Science, Inc., (sapiensDS.com and @sapiensDS) based in San Francisco, CA: “Sapiens turns science into action”. Prior to co-founding Sapiens in 2018, Brad was the founding chief medical officer, from 2014 to 2017, for Human Longevity, Inc., where he designed, built and operated the Health Nucleus, a leading precision medicine research platform, with genomics pioneer JC Venter. Before that, Brad served as EVP for strategy and innovation and chief transformation officer at Vanguard Health Systems, a multi-state integrated health system with 46,000 employees and revenue of $6B+, in the run-up to its IPO and subsequent sale to another publicly-traded healthcare company. Brad started his career at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he served as the chief strategy and innovation officer for six years. Among other projects at the CDC, he led the 2001 US anthrax bioterrorism investigations following 9/11. Brad has an MD and MBA, and is board-certified in internal medicine. He is an active private investor in human health and commercial spaceflight. He is a member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors, the Wellville Advisory Board and Patron Member of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation. He lives and works in San Diego and San Francisco.

Steve Tremitiere has 30 years of experience in strategic business development across a wide range of industries, with a focus on health and technology. He also has an extensive background working with startups and new business initiatives – particularly social impact initiatives – and developing new, innovative approaches to solving big challenges. Steve is currently engaged with the executive team at Geisinger to launch Springboard Health, a highly innovative population health initiative founded in 2016 to solve critical national and global health challenges. The intent is to engage and empower an entire city to achieve health transformation by fostering an environment of access, possibility, and collaboration, and to build a repeatable model which will scale across the country and globally.

Karen Watson is a veteran communications and public policy expert with expansive experience in using market research and communications strategies to build consumer demand for new and existing products in the areas of health and wellness. Her work has involved solving global public policy issues such as obesity, hunger, sustainability and the digital divide with her most recent project being a collaboration with the White House and the Partnership for a Healthier America to encourage Americans to drink more water. First Lady Michelle Obama hailed this work on behalf of Nielsen as “groundbreaking.” Karen helps both public- and private-sector entities use market research data to better inform public policy decisions and advocacy, and her passions revolve around forging private-public sector partnerships to impact social good.
